Dill

Annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Umbelliferae family. Its leaves and fruits are used in cooking as condiments, and its seeds are used in the preparation of certain infusions for therapeutic purposes. Dill is an annual herbaceous plant. It is aromatic, measures from 30 to 45 cm, and exceptionally reaches more than a meter in height. The stem is green, fistulous, and its yellow flowers come out in mid-summer. The leaves are extremely fine, feather-like, dark green in color, and have a flavor reminiscent of parsley. The fruits, 4-6 mm long by 2.5 mm wide, are brownish in color, somewhat shiny. The seeds are flat, oval and parchment-colored, with a somewhat bitter taste. On average, it will take 40-45 days from the start of flowering for the seeds to mature in the main umbels. Also, the crop matures unevenly and the ripe seeds fall off the plant very easily.
